The Browns won both of their playoff games Saturday to earn a trip to their first championship game.
In the quarterfinal, starting pitcher Gino Grasso threw a complete game shutout while the offense scored in every inning behind homeruns from 1B Dan Kozloski and CF Tyson Martinez. The Browns made quick work of the Twins advancing to the semi-final game against the 4-time defending champs the Denver Bulls. The Bulls beat the Pirates 9-5 in their quarterfinal game.
In the semifinal game LHP Jeremiah Batla battled to get the complete game win 7-6. The game was back and forth with the Bulls going up and the Browns coming back every inning to keep pace. In the 8th with the score tied 5-5, the Browns plated two runs to take the 7-5 lead into the 9th. The Bulls started the 9th with three straight hits plating a run to cut the lead to 7-6. With runners on 1st and 2nd with one out, Bulls 1B John Osgood grounded to SS Dakota Granzella for a game ending double play to advance the Browns to the 2010 Championship Game.
The Browns played aggressive baseball all day moving runners into scoring position while stealing ten bases in the two games. The Browns continued to win with pitching, great defense and timely hitting.
The #1 Browns (19-3) will face the #3 Red Sox (18-4) for the League Championship this Sunday 4pm at Double Angel Ballpark. The Red Sox reached the finals by defeating the Colorado Cannons and the Mile High Nuggets.
