The Denver Browns got their 1st win of the 2011 season, 11-10 over the Dressel Bulls in a game that saw five lead changes in 9 innings. The Browns took the early lead in the 2nd inning with a solo homerun from catcher Daniel Neumann. Trailing 5-2 in the 5th, the Browns would plate five runs to take the 7-5 lead but the Bulls would answer with two runs to tie the game 7-7.
The Bulls would go on to score two runs each in the 6th and 8th innings to take the 10-7 lead going into the 9th. In the top of the 9th the Browns answered with four runs to take 11-10 lead into bottom half of the inning. Pitcher Gino Grasso who came onto pitch in the 8th closed the door going one, two, three in the 9th to secure the win for the Browns. Browns starter Jeremiah Batla allowed 10 runs in 7 1/3 innings while striking out 11 on the day. At the plate Trent Kutler and Dan Kozloski had two hits each with Kozloski adding 2 RBIs.
The Browns are off for the Easter weekend but will be back in action on Sunday April 30th, 12:30pm at Denver East High School.
The Uptown Browns fell 7-5 to the 2010 18W defending champions, the Bombers. The Uptown team is now 1-1 in their first season and will play Sunday April 30th, 4pm at Denver East High School.
